Islamabad: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received an honorary guard in the Prime Minister’s house upon his arrival in Pakistan on an official visit on Thursday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly received the Turkish leader-as is on a two-day visit to Pakistan and First Lady Emine Erdogan, with a formal honor in their honor. National anthem in both countries was played as part of the inviting ceremony.
The Prime Minister also introduced the Turkish President of Members of the Federal Cabinet. PM Shehbaz also met Erdogan’s cabinet members who were also present at the occasion.
Later, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir also met Erdogan and expanded greetings on his visit. The Turkish president was also honored with a plane paste by F-16 fighter jets.
Erdogan, accompanied by First Lady and a delegation of investors and business leaders, landed at Noor Khan Airbase late last night.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz personally welcomed him at the airport. As part of the ceremonial reception, a 21-canon salary was presented to the distinguished guest.
His visit includes high -level engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and financial cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye.
During his visit, the Turkish President co-chairman will be the seventh meeting of Pakistan-Turkiye Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) with PM Shehbaz.
The meeting concludes with a joint statement and several key agreements and the agreement morandumsum are expected to be signed. The two leaders will also address a joint press conference.
In addition, President Erdogan holds separate meetings with the Prime Minister and President Zardari.
He is also ready to talk at Pakistan-Turkiye Business and Investment Forum, which will be attended by leading investors, businesses and business figures from both countries.
HLSCC is the highest decision platform between Pakistan and Türkiye, which provides strategic direction to bilateral connections.
It oversees several joint standing committees focusing on trade, investment, banking, finance, culture, tourism, energy, defense, agriculture, transport, communication, IT, health, science and technology and education.
So far, six HLSCC meetings have been held, with the last one taking place in Islamabad on 13-14. February 2020.
Pakistan and Turkiye share historical and brotherly ties. President Erdogan’s visit and the seventh HLSCC session will further elaborate on these conditions and improve multidimensional cooperation between the two nations.
