Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a “disturbing scene” in the middle of the west area on Monday, discovering Erika Winford “not responding, wrapped in a blanket and towels in the backyard” in the home.

Law enforcement said Winford seemed to have suffered a gunshot wound and was declared dead on the spot.
Cobb was arrested shortly afterwards while trying to escape from home, the sheriff’s office said.
According to Ct post, Neighbors reported having heard several shots and a woman who screamed the previous night. The next day, a friend of the victim came home to check her after not being able to get in touch with her. When she arrived at home, she found large blood areas outside the home and what seemed to be a body wrapped in a blanket.

“Your JSO will work closely with the State Attorney’s office to seek justice for Ms. Winford’s family in the wake of this tragic crime,” law enforcement said in a news announcement.
Cobb played basketball on University of Connecticut from 2017-2019. In his junior year he had five starts in 15 games, an average of 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds. The following year he appeared in 32 games, an average of 3.7 points and 3.8 rebounds.
He previously played a season in South Carolina, where he performed in 24 games and average 1.1 points and 1.9 rebounds.

According to online items, Cobb remains in custody awaiting trial.
