- Captain America 4‘s creative team has explained why Bruce Banner/The Hulk is not displayed in the movie
- Julius Onah and Nate Moore didn’t want him to step on Sam Wilson’s toes in the latter first film outing
- However, discussions were held about including the hole in the early stages of development
Captain America: Brave New WorldProducer and director have defended the decision not to include Bruce Banner/The Hulk in Marvel’s latest film.
In a speech with Techradar prior to the film’s release, Nate Moore and Julius Onah revealed that they discussed a possible role for the lean, average, green machine in the Marvel -Phase 5 project. However, together with the rest of the film’s creative team, they decided to leave him over fear that his appearance would overshadow Sam Wilson’s first big screen excursion as the titular hero.
Ever since Brave new world” s first trailer was released in July last year, Marvel fans have questioned why Anthony Mackies Wilson has been dropped in the middle of what is essentially a sequel to the 2008s The incredible hulk film.
For starters, it introduces Red Hulk, Thaddeus’ Thunderbolt ‘Ross’ Gamma-Beamed Alter-ego and one of Hulk’s most notorious enemies. Then there is the inclusion of other persons from The incredible hulkSuch as Betty Ross and Samuel Sterns, as well as clear references to Banner and his own superpower alias, which is dotted everywhere Brave new world. In many eyes Captain America 4 is The incredible hulk 2 in total except name.
So why did Marvel chose to Pit Wilson against Ross/Red Hulk in this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Flick? Because his potential recording, whether it would have been in a como-capacity, or a great or small supportive role, would have influenced the Wilson-focused plot as well as his character development that the ALWAYS, MOORE and company tried to tell.
“This is a story about Captain America,” Onah replied when I asked him about Hulk’s absence. “It’s about Sam’s journey and really cemented him as our new Captain America.
“There is also the story he has with Ross, which has emotional and antagonistic elements. But there is also this empathy between those who become central to where the film lands thematically. So the focus was always on telling the best adventure, that Best story and an emotional journey for Sam Wilson in this really funny, exciting trip.
As I insinuated earlier, however, the hulk was part of internal discussions about who to include Captain America 4‘s role crew. In fact, Moore revealed that early conversations were about whether he should be part of the fourth Captain America movie or not. In the end, the film’s main creative collectively agrees not to incorporate banner or his other persona into history.

“It would have deteriorated the story to be honest,” Moore told me in a separate interview. “It was a conversation we had early in the script phase, but we wanted this to feel like a captain america movie. I love Mark Ruffalo[Derpillerbanner/Thehole)andIdsksynesathanshulkerDenbedstedernogensindeernebenbutthisretreafaboutbutthisretreafaboutbutthisbutthisvisreafaboutbutthisbutthisreafaboutskAndthaddeusrossShavingtodealwithsomethingthatisalmostbetweenthemanditdidn’tseemlikeItnedededthebiggreenGuy”[derspillerbanner/TheHulk)ogjegsynesathansHulkerdenbedstedernogensindeerBeen[whoplaysBanner/TheHulk)andIthinkhisHulkisthebestonethat’severbeenButthisisreallyaboutSamandThaddeusRosshavingtodealwithsomethingthatisalmostbetweenthemAnditdidn’tseemlikeitneededthebiggreenguy”
Disappointing as it is, Moore left me with a tease -loaded piece that suggests that we don’t have long to wait to see Banner/The Hulk again. “That doesn’t mean you’re not going to see the big green guy coming up pretty soon,” he said with a smile. So it’s the hulk confirmed to show up in Avengers: Judgment Day and/or Avengers: Secret Warsnot?
