Global Venture Capital and Private Equity Firm Insight Partners have revealed the suffering of a data violation that resulted in sensitive company data being stolen.
The company published a statement saying it discovered, “unauthorized third -party access” on January 16, 2025. The named threat actor apparently opened certain information systems through a “sophisticated social -technical attack”.
“As soon as this incident was discovered, we moved quickly to contain, remedy and start an investigation within hours,” says the message. Insight added that it informed the police and its stakeholders who warned them to be vigilant and tight security protocols “regardless of having shared data compromised.”

The company claims to have removed attackers successfully and said, “There has been no further disruption of Insight’s operations as a result of the incident.”
Currently, Insight is investigating the attack and its potential effects, so the details of compromised data are not yet available. The company said the hired third-party cybersecurity experts, a “leading forensic and ediscovery expert” and external legal adviser whose work “will take several weeks.”
Right now, the company does not believe that the attack will have a significant impact on portfolio companies, means of insights or other stakeholders.
