Champions Trophy – Pakistan fines too slow over -Rate

Pakistan was fine five percent of their match fee on Thursday to maintain a slow over-rate during their match against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy opener at National Stadium in Karachi.

The tournament hosts and defense champions lost against New Zealand with 60 races on Wednesday.

Pakistan was found one over short after the goal after taking into account time allowance, ICC said.

While Umpires on the field Richard Kettleborough and Sharfuddoula, third Judge Joel Wilson and fourth Judge Alex Wharf equalized the charges, introduced Match Judge Andy Pycrop sanction and withdrew five percent of the match fee.

Pakistan -Skipper Mohammad Rizwan pleaded guilty to the offense without any formal hearing required thereafter.

In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC behavior code for players and player support staff relating to minimum over-rate offenses, players will receive a fine of five percent of their match fees for each overlay if their side does not manage to bowl at the allotted time.

Pakistan had suffered another stroke on Thursday, with Fakhar Zaman excluded from the rest of the tournament with injury. Imam-Ul-Haq is approved by ICC as Fakhar’s compensation. They will be in India in Dubai next time on Sunday.
