- Shortly after HP acquired Humane AI launches Rabbit Android app
- Like other AI agents, the idea is that this rabbit app is an agent to perform tasks for you
- It is currently being tested for Android prior to a teased release
Rabbit shows a new AI agent that can automatically perform tasks for you on Android devices. This may be because Rabbit is eager to show that it has another trick after Human’s sales to HP Renewed Focus and questions about the company’s Rabbit R1 hardware. Maybe aware that the hardware approach did not sell as well as expected, Rabbit has jumped away from hardware to smartphones, where far more people are likely to experiment with AI tools.
Rabbit’s Android Agent also doesn’t reintroduce the same features in so many AI -Chatbots. Instead of summarizing Wikipedia pages, Rabbit’s Agent can coordinate tasks across different apps based on your prompt. You can ask it to write and send dinner party invitations on WhatsApp, choose a meal from a recipe app or collect a grocery list based on this recipe. It can also find and save a YouTube music playlist when eating and even downloading a game from the Play Store to after the meal.
To really show Rabbit’s AI Agent, the demonstration of the company showed how the agent could find a business idea you have stored in Google Keep and write a revenue plan in Google Docs before sharing it with someone on your contact list.

This “does” ai, unlike the “known” AI, is usually what people imagine when describing an AI assistant. But like any new technique, it’s not perfect yet. Rabbit’s Demo shows that although the agent can pull off these tasks, it sometimes stumbles. Some actions take longer than expected, formatting can become weird, and every now and then it makes a choice that raises an eyebrow.
Rabbit’s agent is generally not available yet. Based on the demonstration, once it is, you will be able to get the app from the Play Store and link it to Android apps once you have given permission. Then you can ask AI to perform a task for you and it will run in the background, which is a nice change from some AI tools that require you to leave the app open while running.
Rabbit will have to fight with more competition with this move. A growing wave of AI tools offers to take control of your devices and automate your tasks.
Openai has developed app-controlling operator, and anthropically tests a feature called computer use for its claude AI assistant, which allows an AI opportunity to interact with desktop software and the Internet. There are also use of third -party browser that specializes in navigating the web, filling out forms and filling out requests online. Rabbit does not imitate any of them exactly and focus on Android devices and apps. Instead, Rabbit’s agent seems mainly ready for daily use compared to Openai and Anthropics emphasis on professional activities.
This reimagination of what rabbit can offer is exactly the kind of reinvention that many have suggested could keep rabbit independent. The independent R1 did not have much momentum after it came out and often felt like a limited smartphone with a strange function kit. Instead of asking people to buy new hardware, Rabbit meets them where they are already: on their phones.
