  • Workers may lose jobs if they do not manage to account for week’s work.
  • Those who do not respond will be considered to have retired.

Washington: Elon Musk, billionaire adviser to US President Donald Trump, has warned that all US federal employees should give an account of their work week or risk losing their jobs.

Musk’s drastic measure comes a few hours after Trump announced the move, calling for “more aggressive” tougher measures to reduce public spending and eliminate waste.

“In accordance with President @RealdonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will soon receive an E email requesting to understand what they got done last week. Lack of reaction will be taken as a resignation,” said a post on X from Musk , as Trump tapped up the head of the new department of government efficiency (DOGE).

Musk – the world’s richest person and Trump’s biggest donor – have led the efforts to shoot cuts from the federal workforce.

His X -post did not elaborate on what was needed in the work’s accounts, nor what the deadline would be.

Earlier on Saturday, Trump said on his truth, as a social platform, that Musk “did a good job, but I want to see him become more aggressive.”

“Remember we have a country to save,” the Republican leader added.

Trump has set the technical entrepreneur who is responsible for DOGE and has gone to cut him to cut public spending and tackle waste and alleged corruption.

In the latest cuts announced on Friday, the US Department of Defense will reduce its civilian workforce by at least five percent from next week.

Trump’s administration has already begun to shoot many other federal workers who are on probation.

DOGE is a free -range device driven by Musk, although its cost -saving spree has been met with pushback on several fronts and mixed court decisions.

A judge on Thursday refused a trade union bid to temporarily stop the firing of thousands of people.

Musk said this week he would work with Trump as long as he “can be useful” as the couple rejected concerns about possible conflicts of interest due to the tech -choon’s government contracts.

Trump showered praise on Musk, the leader of SpaceX and Tesla, in a Fox News interview that called the billionaire “brilliant”, “honest” and a “very good, solid businessman.”

“If there’s any conflict he’ll stop it. But if he didn’t, I would stop it,” Trump said. “We’re talking about big things, but he’s under a pretty big microscope. I mean everyone looks at him.”

Musk said that DOGE published his actions on his website and that transparency would hold him responsible.

“The possibility of getting away with something is zero percent,” Musk said. “I am examined to a ridiculous degree.”

Musk has also waded into the Ukraine conflict this week and attacked President Volodymyr Zelensky and claimed that Ukrainians “despised” their president – and strengthened Trump’s criticism of the wartime leader.
