- Apple is allegedly targeting vloggers with the iPhone 17 series
- It can replace a dedicated digital camera for video creators
- For now is not clear what potential video upgrades could be
We are gradually learning more and more about what Apple has in store for us with the iPhone 17 later in the year, and a new report suggests that the four phones will have a special focus on video recording features.
“In the past years, Apple has focused more on the camera’s photo magazine skills,” Mark Gurman writes in his power on newsletter to Bloomberg. “This year it will emphasize improvements to video recording.”
Gurman is one of the more reliable Apple tips in the industry, and he says Apple is targeting the “Vlogging Society” and “video creators” to move away from free cameras and use their iPhones instead.
It is not clear if there will be any new video recording features, or exactly what they may be, but it sounds like Apple will hype these special options when it comes to the iPhone 17 launch day (probably sometime in September).
The current top-end iPhones, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, can record video with a maximum resolution of 4K and at up to 120 frames per second. Multi-Stream ProRes and 3D spatial video recording are also supported.
Potential upgrades
If Apple wants to introduce new video features on iPhone 17, what could they be? And will they offer enough to get Vloggers to leave their dedicated digital cameras and go all-in on iPhone?
A boost in megapixel is expected, as is a new telephotos sensor. On the hardware page, improved audio and video recording would definitely appeal, as well as a boost to optical video stabilization for these smooth, expanded shots.
There are probably also improvements to the software and the AI side – maybe something that matches Pixel’s Audio Magic Eraser that cuts background noise and can identify different types of sound (such as singing or traffic brown).
Still, even if the iPhone 17 gets these features, it doesn’t replace the best vlogging cameras. Techradar cameras Editor Tim Coleman say: “If a future iPhone 17 -ProRE should be taken seriously by hopeful and pro -filmmakers, Apple has cut his work because we need to see more hardware improvements similar to the largest single camera upgrade we have seen Yet, ”he said.
“These include the quality of lenses and for vloggers, especially a dramatic improvement in the quality of the selfie camera. A built-in ND filter along with a kind of pro mode in the original camera app that offers manual exposure control, including Aperture and shuts down, making footage feel more natural and premium.
Whatever happens, dedicated pro -video cameras are likely to be for a long time yet. “Today’s vlogging cameras have evolved to keep them in front of the best smartphones that the iPhone 16 Pro. DJI Osmo Pocket 3, for example, has a built-in gimbal for stabilization and smooth after the topic” Our camera editor notes.
“Like Panasonic GH7 and Sony ZV-E1, meanwhile, have much larger sensors than iPhones and a wealth of pro-friendly recording conditions. IPhones have made great progress in video, but there will be a place for independent video cameras for a while yet” he added.
Although the iPhone 17 Series will not be a primary camera for many filmmakers, it could bring pro-friendly features to a new audience-and we look forward to finding out what these rumored features are later in the year.
