- Luma Labs’ Dream Machine can now add audio to video clips free
- You can ask the sound or let AI come up with something it decides is appropriate
- Sora and other AI -Video Manufacturers Mostly Mostly Missing An Interior AI sounds to go with their visuals
Luma Labs has added a score to AI videos produced on its Dream Machine Platform. The new feature brings audio to your video, specially gone to match a written prompt or created by AI, and is based solely on what happens in the video. It can mean empowering birds on the sunrise scene, a spaceship’s distant hum to your sci-fi animation, the chaotic flap of a busy cafĂ© or something else you love to hear.
The new feature is free in beta for all users. After generating a video with Dream Machine, you see a new “sound” button along the row at the bottom of the video next to the existing “Extend” and “Improvement” buttons. Click on it and you will get two choices: Let AI determine the best appropriate sounds on your own, or take the steering wheel and indicate a text prompt that describes exactly what you want. Maybe you have a dreamy nature scene and want to hear a distant waterfall, or maybe you want to hear how AI is doing it; Whatever it works.

Sound idea
This update is great because AI-generated videos, although sometimes visually astonishing, have always felt incomplete without sound. It is a lot of work to carefully add sound yourself. Even some of the biggest names in AI video do not have sound as an option yet, including Openais Sora.
Of course, AI sound generation on your own is not unique. There are many AI music producers, even full voice and singing manufacturers. But production within the platform that is linked to the video already there makes Dream Machine a real standout. That said, it’s not perfect. You can tell from the way the movement and sound do not match this dog when it swims.
On the other hand, when asked correctly, this crackling fire and laughter of people around it sounds pretty good.
But I wouldn’t trust Dream Machine to create sound on my own without any guidance in a quick one. With an empty audio prompt, AI took the same short clip of people around a fire and came with something very spookies.
