Pakistan wants to create Crypto Council to oversee policy: Report

Pakistan has said it will create a national crypto council to develop legislation for the sector after a meeting with President Donald Trump’s digital asset advisers, according to a report from the local news site Dawn.

The Council would be a dedicated advisory body consisting of government representatives, regulatory authorities and industry experts. It would oversee policy development as well as cooperation with countries to develop a standardized framework, the report added, referring to a statement from the Ministry of Finance.

Until last year, the country’s finance ministry had been against regulating crypto in the country, but Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said he would investigate the matter with an open mind, he said in a statement. He also emphasized the importance of a well -regulated digital asset frame, the report added.

Aurangzeb also attended a meeting with a foreign delegation that said to include President Donald Trump’s digital asset advisers on Tuesday.

Nations have looked at the United States that have moved to create crypto -reflection policies since the election of Trump.
