A report from CNBC Claims that the redundancies will take the form of volunteer resignation, which could be offered US-based, full-time workers beginning in early March 2025.
The upcoming changes have reportedly been confirmed via an internal memo shared by Chief People Officer Fiona Cicconi, and they are also stacked with CFO Anat Ashkenazi’s plans to continue cutting costs.
Google continues to cut jobs
Google seems to target its higher earnings from levels four and five, offering them up to 14 weeks of severance pay plus an extra week for each year’s service. Further details of dismissal packages have not been revealed.
A spokesman for the company added: “Our teams have continued to make changes to work more efficiently, remove layers and ensure that they are created for long -term success.”
The news comes almost a month after Google announced that it would offer a similar voluntary exit program for workers in its platforms and devices affecting pixel workers, Android employees and more.
Although the company has worked to make certain areas more efficient, CFO Anat Ashkenazi explained that it is not all bad news for Google’s workforce: “Secondly, we expect some employee growth in 2025 in central investment areas, such as AI and Cloud.”
She reiterated her previous quarterly Comments of ongoing job cuts in certain areas, though: “And as I mentioned on the Q3 call, we do it, while also focusing on running further efficiency in how we run the company.”
These redundancies are still only minor changes compared to the company’s pandemic induced redundancies in January 2023, when 12,000 the slings were sent gasket.
Google confirmed with us: “To support our People Operations Teams innovative work In the future, we open new roles and offer a voluntary exit program with resignation for their US-based employees.”
