US President Donald Trump appointed XRP, Solana (Sol) and Cardano (ADA) as three assets to be included in a strategic cryptor reserve on Sunday, giving the first details of what this reserve might look like.
Not included was Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH), the two largest digital assets at market value. Trump published the message of truth social, his social media platform.
“An American cryptor reserve is raising this critical industry after years of corrupt attacks by the Biden administration, which is why my executive order of digital assets instructed the president’s working group to move on to a crypto strategic reserve that includes XRP, Sun and Ada,” the post said. “I want to make sure the US is the world’s crypto capital. We’re doing America well again!”
The executive order signed in January instructs its working group to evaluate a cryptor reserve, but did not explicitly encourage the United States to create a direct. However, Trump has discussed the idea since the presidential campaign in 2024.
Senator Cynthia Lummis has previously introduced a bill to create a strategic Bitcoin reserve for the United States and has advocated since Bitcoin Nashville, where Trump also spoke. A number of US state legislators have already introduced bills to create their own cryptor reserves, although these efforts have faltered in several.
