Gas supply in Karachi is expected to get better in Sehri hours after emergency measures taken on the Prime Minister’s directives, said the acting CEO of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Monday.
Amin Rajput, the functioning MD for SSGC, said the supply had already shown improvements and would further stabilize today.
The insurance comes after residents reported serious gas shortages on Sunday and disrupted household routines under Ramadan.
In Peshawar, SSGC General Manager Waqas Shinwari said that 100 mmcfd gas was delivered under SEHRI and 110 mmCFD under Iftar, without any complaints about low pressure.
The company said it had inspected the gas pressure in all areas to ensure that the supply reached each household in the peak load.
Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif seized to tackle the ongoing questions about disruptions in the gas supply during Sehri and Iftar in the Ramadan month and conducted immediate action to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted flow of gas during critical hours.
At an emergency meeting in the evening, the Prime Minister summoned discussions with the CEOs and the top management of SSGC and SNGPL to tackle the problems of low gastry and disturbance in operation.
As a result of the meeting, SUI Southern Gas Company announced a 10% increase in gastry pressure to ensure better delivery in peak times.
In addition, gas supply begins to areas located at the end of distribution networks, 30 to 45 minutes before Sehri and Iftar, which helps improve pressure in these regions.
To further monitor the situation, Sui Southern announced the creation of control rooms in both head office and regional offices.
These rooms will supervise the daily gas supply situation, ensuring that complaints related to low pressure are immediately treated and resolved on emergencies.
