Paul Tazewell just made “Evil” history on Oscars 2025!
The costume designer who was mastermind behind the dressing of Evil Actors and actresses won the recognition for the best costume design on Sunday, March 2, which made him the first black man to take the trophy home.
In his acceptance speech, the 60-year-old said, “This is absolutely amazing. Thanks Academy for this very significant honor.”
“I am the first black man who received the price of costume design for my work on Evil. I am so proud of this, ”he mentioned further.
Tazewell continued, “Thank you all in England for all your beautiful work, I couldn’t have done this without you.”
Then give a shout to Evil Cast, he mentioned, “My Ozian Muses, Cynthia [Erivo] and Ariana [Grande]I love you so much – all the other role crews, thank you thank you Thanks for trusting me to bring your characters to life. This is all. Director Jon M. Chu and producer [Marc Platt]thanks. “
His victory also comes years after Ruth E. Carter became the first black person to set the award for best costume design trophy, spruce her efforts in Black Panther (2018) and then win again for its contributions to Black Panther: Wakanda forever (2022).
