- Google is working on a new shielded E -Mail feature similar to Apple’s Heede My E -Mail
- The new tool hides your main E -mail address from service providers when they create accounts
- There is no release date yet but testers have been able to activate the feature before release
If you are something like me, your Gmail -Inbox has slowly filled with campaigns, meaningless updates and newsletters from accounts that you probably never use just because you use the same E -email address to log in as you do to actually write and receive e emails.
Fortunately, Google seems to take steps to alleviate this annoying problem by taking inspiration from his long -standing competitor, Apple.
The new shielded email feature for Android phones creates an alias when you sign up for new accounts that immediately issue a new email address or limited use for use in the sign-up process.
The feature was successfully enabled Pre-Release by Android Authority, which reports that the new tool is available as part of Google’s AutoFill features along with the same pop-ups that appear at the top of your keyboard to automatically type phone numbers, credit card information and addresses.
E emails sent to an alias address are automatically forwarded to your main E -mail address that you can turn off at any time. Using an alias address creates a buffer between you and the service provider, which means fewer people have their hands on your most important e -mail.
This buffer also means that bad actors can easily be removed from your inbox without having to jump through hangers: You don’t even have to block or unsubscribe from these E emails to make them stop showing up. It will also make your online presence more difficult to track as your identity will largely be hidden from data collectors seeking to build a picture of your activity in different places and platforms -easily performed if you use the same E -mail address in several places.
As mentioned, shielded E -mail effectively is the same tool that Apple hides my E -Mail and seeks to offer a very similar result -even if it is considering how much inspiration The best iPhones have taken from the best Android phones over the years, I’m sure we can let Google turn off this time. However, there is no release date yet.
