LONDON: A charity held the first ever open iftar inside the Windsor Castle’s State Apartments in the castle’s 1,000-year history.
Ste George’s Hall, world renowned to host state banquets, welcomed over 360 guests with all backgrounds to mark the first open IFTAR event from 2025 arranged by the Ramadan Tent project in collaboration with the Royal Collection Trust, the charity welcoming visitors to the official Royal Residences.
It is the first event of its kind to mark the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in the state’s apartments in the world’s largest and oldest occupied castle in the world, and the first IFTAR collection held in the hall, which was built in the 14th century during King Edward III’s reign.
Open Iftar has so far gathered over a million people all over the UK and saw some of Britain’s best -known venues open their doors to visitors from all faiths and none, to promote communities, including cultural exchange under Ramadan.
