- The new hand luggage-compatible roller case is available in three color ways
- That’s part of Peak Design’s ecosystem with a new purpose-made XL chamber
- Prices from $ 599.95, with crowdfunding campaign running from March 4 to April 17
Peak Design has revealed its first roller case, Premium Roller Pro, with innovative features and well-known designs taken from its camera-operating ecosystem.
The hand luggage compatible roll is available in the Three Colorways-Black, Eclipse (a Bordeaux-ish shadow) and Sage-and is currently crowdfunded from March 4 to April 17 with a rear price of $ 599.95 and is due to country on the Peak Design site from the end of June.
There is also a new dedicated camera (XL) designed to maximize the internal storage of Roller Pro for Camera Gear that needs extra protection, which costs $ 139.95 (UK and Australia Pricing for both items is TBC).
Of course, there are no guarantees with crowdfunding campaigns, but I have already had my hands on a Sage Roller Pro-Prototype for Weeks (and I have tested several pointed design products down the years, primarily camera equipment such as outdoor backpack, camera cubes, travel and camera sling), and I imagine that Peak Design’s latest product will be my go-to-roller in many years. comes. Let’s look at what it offers.
An expensive roll that is a dream to handle, and built to last
Peak Design sent me a prototype of Roller Pro several weeks prior to his message, and I can tell you that it is a completely different proposal for budget rolling cases made of the shelf’s parts.
This is a premium pointed design product through and through, with an ultra-smooth and smooth four-state wheels, plus a low-profile handle made of solid single pieces of carbon fiber instead of stinking telescopic tube. The handle slot into an aluminum chassis and takes less space inside the roller house, which means more space for your stuff.
The outside of the roles is a durable feeling and expandable soft-shell type, with a well-known maximum design look and a further top-softened handle (relieving this temptation to hoist the loaded case up with the extended handle), while a polycarbonate hard shell structure inside provides stiffness and protection for what is inside.
I love how the main room opens for packing and unpacking. Unlike other rolls that double in footprints when you open them, Roller Pro’s Drawbridge tops are up vertically – ideal for when you are in narrow spaces trying to access the camera equipment, or in an airport that feverishly searches for the thing you need.
With so many camera accessories in its portfolio, Natural Peak Design has put lots of tanks in gear storage. There are dedicated and secure rooms for objects such as a laptop, small interior zipper pockets for important items such as a passport and memory card, plus a wide range of protective camera cubes – including the new XL version, which means you can customize how to divide camera mode / personal items into your needs for each trip.
It’s still early days for my roller test, but I can already see that it will be my go-to roller case for many years of travel and photography trips. The elephant in the room is the product’s list price – about $ 600 for the case is only pretty steep, and that is before you add the cost of camera equipment accessories, e.g. Camera cubes.
Still, if it is so durable and versatile as my time with it so far indicates, Roller Pro could eventually prove to be excellent value. I will share more thoughts further down the line by a long -term review.
