PM announces using £ 190m case proceeds to establish Varsity in Islamabad

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday announced the establishment of Daanish University of Applied and Emerging Sciences in Islamabad by spending £ 190 million amounts transferred from the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s report.

Imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were sentenced in the £ 190m case in January this year. The right of responsibility handed down a 14-year judgment to the PTI founder and a seven-year verdict to his wife, while also relaxing heavy fines on them.

PM Shehbaz, while he was chairman of the management committee meeting for the establishment of Daanish University, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to ensure a smooth transfer of the 190 million pounds to the federal government account.

The United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) had returned 190 million pounds to Pakistan, which has been transferred from the Supreme Court to the federal government’s account. According to the vision of PM Shehbaz, this amount will be used to build the advanced university.

The Prime Minister was chairman of the meeting and emphasized that the university would be an institution where deserving and talented students will receive high quality research -based education.

He instructed the early end of legal formalities to acquire land in Islamabad for the university.

The Prime Minister also instructed the rapid completion of the university’s charter and other legal issues. In addition, Premier emphasized that the university should be developed as an international technical and applied science university.

He also instructed that the university’s architecture should reflect the simplicity, with buildings constructed using red bricks and avoid unnecessary expenses for minimizing costs.

He also instructed to recruit highly qualified faculties and teachers to the university, which would be equipped with advanced technology and advanced research facilities.

The university’s curriculum must be prepared according to the international standards. He further approached to form a committee to appoint the principal and a committee for nomination of the board.

During the meeting, a briefing was given at Daanish University and Daanish Schools, and it was emphasized that the Prime Minister would be the patron of Daanish University, which will be registered as a section 42 company, with all necessary formalities to be completed within a few days.

The university’s land is chosen in sector H-16. Daanish University will operate under the skewed confidence to ensure financial independence and minimal government intervention.
