Islamabad:

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday excluded the opportunity to become prime minister for the half-period of the current setup and said his party already rejected such a proposal during the government’s formation interviews after the 2024 parliamentary elections.

In addition, Bilawal revealed that PPP had not become part of the federal cabinet despite the latest inductions, because the level of trust between the two major coalition partners-PPP and the ruling PML-N was so high even after parliament entered into the second year.

Bilawal spoke with the media in his chamber in the House of Parliament after the National Assembly’s session, which was a condolence meeting in memory of the late PPP National Assembly Member Nawab Yousuf Talpur.

Bilawal said that PPP did not support the concept of ‘half-time prime minister’ when it joined forces with PML-N to discuss the contours of the election after the Director General. “We did not come up to this agreement; We had rejected it, ”he said.

“Neither the level of trust was to such an extent at the time of government formation nor after a year when Pakistan Peoples Party could formally become part of the government,” he said. “Our level of trust has not yet reached the stage where PPP can join the government.”

In response to a question, Bilawal said he expected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to honor the basic points agreed with PPP as part of their political understanding. The prime minister instructed his team to “address our complaints in yesterday’s meeting,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bilawal said President Zardari gave a historical speech at the joint parliamentary session on Monday. In his address, President Zardari clearly pointed out the government’s unilateral policies, especially the decision to take new channels from Indus, he added.

He also said that PPP raised his concerns, including the law and the order situation in Balochistan and KP. Bilawal said he asked the Prime Minister to attach the KP government to resolve this issue. It is also the responsibility of the Federation to look after these problems as they could not give up KP for the incident from the current provincial regime.

In response to various questions, Bilawal said it is only the responsibility of the media to spread the truth and “the propaganda of the opposition should not be repeated.” He said that PPP has been the first party to raise their vote against questions intervening in the province’s rights.
