I own a pre-technological era game called rebound by Ideal, these toy suits in the golden era of board games. The purpose of the game is to roll a marble enclosed inside a plastic ring along a plastic surface and jump it from a stretched rubber band in one of four sections, giving you 5, 10, 25 or 50 points.
I’m sure there was once a whole art for this game, and there were probably competitive rebound – leagues all over the world with people who Sassily complement each other on a “nice comeback”, but unfortunately my set is now distorted – which means all scores 50 points unless you ricochet your opponent out of the board. I can’t bring myself to throw it out, even though it’s basically just a huge piece of wonky yellow plastic.

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s non-new-new-more word games after Wordle and connections. It is now a fully expanded member of Nyt’s Games Stable, which has been running for a year and can be played on the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
