Karachi:
The Sindh Assembly unanimously adopted a decision that condemns the recent hijack of the Jaffar Express passenger train of a Baloch Terrorist group that heaps praise for the security forces for their role in averting the attack and saving all hostages.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah made the decision during the session, led by Rehana Laghari. Shah condemned the Feige attack while praising the army’s timely intervention. He called for the decision to be adopted unanimously to convey a comprehensive message of national solidarity in the light of terrorism.
The resolution received broad support across the assembly, where MPAS praised the coordinated efforts of the Balochistan Government, Pakistani Army, and law enforcement authorities for their courage and efficiency in handling the situation.
Minister of Health Dr. Azra Pechuho condemned the use of women and children as human shields during hijacking of Jaffar Express and called it a reprehensible act. She also condemned the spread of wrong information and negative campaigns on social media about the incident.
PPP legislators, including Sardar Khan Chandio and Imdad Pitafi, expressed their full support for the military’s actions against the terrorists. Chandio said the Baloch culture does not tolerate attacks on women and children, which emphasizes the cultural and moral abbreviation of such actions.
Muhammad Farooq from Jamaat-e-Islami described the attack as part of a broader international conspiracy and called for the solution of enforced the disappearance and prosecution of those responsible for Jaffar Express attack.
Minister of the local government Saeed Ghani characterized the attack as a “knife in the heart” in Pakistan. He praised the victims of the security agencies for defending the country and strongly criticizing those who have made a habit of cutting the armed forces and calling for respect for the victims of Pakistan’s martyrs.
MQM-P member Muhammad Mazahir recognized the heroic acts of the Pakistani army in the incident, but criticized some people for politicizing the attack. PPP MPA Taimur Talpur raised concerns about alleged external interference, especially from India and Afghanistan, for the destabilization of Balochistan. He suggested that dialogue involving local elders could be the key to solving the region’s problems, and also condemned social media campaigns and anti-Pakistan media efforts attributed to India.
Head of the opposition Ali Khursheedi expressed his support for the decision and praised the Pakistani army and security agencies for their decisive actions. He urged the government to revise the national action plan to strengthen the efforts to prevent similar attacks in the future.
Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted the time of the attack, suggesting that such events are orchestrated every time Pakistan’s economy shows signs of improvement.
He recognized the historical complaints of the people of Balochistan and said these were treated by Asif Ali Zardaris Aghaz-E-Haqooq-E-Balochistan initiative.
Sharjeel expressed his belief that certain external forces cannot tolerate Pakistan’s progress and is therefore behind the ongoing conspiracies and attacks.
