Special courts to be established for Overseas Pakistanis’ property regulations

Special courts will be established in Islamabad to tackle property disputes involving overseas Pakistanis, according to the Overseas Law 2024,

According to Express News, these courts are aimed at speeding up the resolution of property disputes for Pakistanis living abroad. The acting Supreme Court of Islamabad High Court has instructed the formation of these special courts.

The acting Chief Justice has given the authority to appoint judges of the session judge. In this regard, the registrar of Islamabad High Court has written a letter to the Law Secretary and Justice, saying that the session judges for Eastern and Western Overseas Special Courts will be nominated.

The letter also specifies that pending cases and the experience of the legal officers should be considered when nominating judges to the session’s courts.

The letter also mentioned that the Ministry of Overseas Law is issuing the necessary messages to the courts in the East and West sessions.

In addition, a special bench has been formed in Islamabad High Court in accordance with the Overseas Law 2024 to hear cases related to property of overseas Pakistani.

Justice Khadim Hussain Somro will hear cases and appeals related to Overseas Pakistanis’ property. The announcement in this regard is issued by the Deputy Generator with the approval of the functioning Chief Justice.

Earlier in October, Pakistan’s Senate approved a bill to set up special courts for resolving property disputes of overseas Pakistanis. The bill presented by Chaudhry Salik Hussain requires these courts to settle cases within 90 days.

Previously, the Minister of Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb provided a comprehensive update on the country’s financial progress, highlighting increased transfer stream, growing investor confidence and improved results from institutional reforms.

“The record-breaking transfer inflow for February 2025 reached an impressive $ 3.1 billion. We estimate an all-time high-belt flow of $ 36 billion at the end of the financial year,” he said at a news conference with Minister of Information, TV spread, National Inheritance and Culture Attaullah Tarar.

To express gratitude to the Pakistani diaspora, which he described as “lifeline in our country”, Aurangzeb recognized their invaluable contribution to the economy.
