Peshawar:
As Khyber Pakhtunkhwa struggles with an increase in terrorist attacks, the security forces held the line on Monday and rejected attacks in Lakki Marwat, Peshawar and Khyber in separate events.
In Lakki Marwat, a group of 10 to 15 highly armed militants tried to attack the Gambila police station. However, police retinated sharply and pushed attackers back.
Lakki Marwat DPO Mohammad Jawad Ishaq confirmed that the timely reaction prevented a major assault and forced militants to escape with their weapons.
In Peshawar, terrorists in Peshawar launched a pomegranate attack on a police checkpoint, while another group opened fire at a Khyber police checkpoint on Bypass Road and injured two staff.
The wounded officers were immediately moved to a hospital while the striker fled after sustaining injuries in retaliatory fire.
A separate attack on the Jamud FC checkpoint was also reported, where terrorists were involved in a firefighter with FC Bara Rifle’s staff. The assailants managed to flee under the deck of darkness after intense shot.
Meanwhile, security forces killed two terrorists in a joint operation of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Bannu police following an attack on a police constable.
Earlier in the day, armed motorcyclists assaulted the lower main constable Arman Khan on Miranshah Road and killed him on the spot before escaping.
In response, RPO Bannu, DPO Bannu and SP CTD launched an intelligence -based operation near Baran Bridge.
As soon as the police team approached, militant fire opened, causing the security forces to reciprocate. A 30-minute pistol game emerged, resulting in the killing of two terrorists.
Authorities seized weapons from the killed militants and their bodies were moved to a hospital for identification.
