Rawalpindi:
The third phase of privatization driven for public schools is set to begin after Eidul Fitr. In this phase, all government schools with a registration of 100 or fewer students will be sold to private owners.
The Ministry of Education has instructed district education officers and heads of district education authorities from all 43 districts throughout the province to compile and submit a list of schools that meet this criterion.
Sources show that a significant number of these schools are located in rural villages, where some are also found in urban areas, especially primary schools in cities with low students’ registration. These schools will be available for privatization immediately after Eid.
The move is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline the education sector and tackle the challenge of under -utilized public school resources. By selling these schools, the government aims to reduce its financial burden.
