Silent Hill F. Have received an ESRB rating and although it alone will not shock you, its long and graphic content warnings may be.
As reported by IGN, the entertainment software has Rating Board – which handles the gambling and content warnings in the US – assigned Silent Hill F. A ‘mature 17+ age assessment.
In itself, it’s not too surprising, but a look at rating resume reveals more. Fair warning, if you are particularly fuzzy (or eating your lunch), you will probably click away now.
“This is a survival horror action game where players assume the role of a student confronting supernatural units in a Japanese mountain town of the 1960s,” begins summary. “From a third -person perspective, players explore the city, solve riddles, interact with characters and fight enemy beings (eg humanoid monsters, mutants, mythical beings).” Jepp that everyone is checking so far.
“Players use axes, copper, knives and spears to defend themselves against and kill enemy beings in melee-style fighting. Bloodplates effects often occur as characters are attacked; several areas depict large platelets in the environment and near corpses.” Again all sounds clear Silent Hill up to this point.
“Some enemy attacks can result in the play of the players being impaled to the neck and/or getting their faces torn apart.
“Cutscene sometimes portrays gore and more intense acts of violence: a character burned alive inside a cage; a woman labeled by a warm iron; entrails and sinuses displayed on serving plates in amazing celebration/ceremony; a character that saw her own arm; a character that cuts parts of a character’s face under a ritual.
“Concept art portrays a naked mannequin -like character with exposed buttocks and partially exposed breasts; the character appears in a essential form throughout the game.”
Apart from sounding like your average night in Torquay, it’s definitely pretty cruel even after mature 17+ standards. In fact, Japan’s Computer Entertainment Rating Organization has given Silent Hill F. A ‘Cero Z’ rating. It is for players aged 18 and over, one first for the series, and is the highest possible age assessment that a game can receive in the country.
