The Lazarus group, a hacking group closely linked to the North Korean, has more Bitcoin (BTC) than Tesla (TSLA), electric car manufacturer led by Elon Musk, according to Data from Arkham Intelligence.
At the time of the press, Lazarus kept 13,441 BTC worth $ 1.14 billion, according to Data Source Arkham Intelligence. That’s 16% more than Teslas Bitcoin -Stash on 11,509 BTC.
Last month, the Lazarus Group Crypto Exchange Bybit hit and drained $ 1.4 billion in ether (ETH) from the platform. Recently, some of the stolen funds have been converted to Bitcoin, with 12,836 BTC distributed over 9,117 unique wallets, as Bybit’s CEO Ben Zhou confirmed.
Tesla acquired her Bitcoin-Stash four years ago and has been in Hodling ever since, making it the world’s fourth largest listed company in terms of BTC Holdings.
The striking contrast between the Tesla and the Lazarus group emerged, even when President Donald Trump’s positive attitude towards cryptocurrency has given rise to calls for accelerated BTC admission among companies and sovereign nations around the world.
On Thursday, Trump confirmed his commitment to turning the United States “Undoor Bitcoin superpower and Krypto capital in the world.” Based on this, it will be interesting to see if Tesla and other US companies respond to being overshadowed by a North Korean hacker.
Meanwhile, the US government has 198,109 BTC worth over $ 16 billion, representing coins seized in enforcement measures. Trump recently announced the same as the strategic reserve.
