Washington: The United States has added six subsidiaries of Inspur Group, China’s leading cloud computing and big data service provider and dozens of other Chinese devices to its export limitation list – some of which are also based in Pakistan.

The Inspur units were listed to contribute to the development of supercomputers for the Chinese military, the trade department said in a speech. Five of the subsidiaries are based in China and one in Taiwan. Inspur Group itself was placed on the list in 2023.

The Inspur units are among 80 companies and institutes added to the export checklist on Tuesday. Over 50 are based in China, while others are in Taiwan, Iran, Pakistan, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

The lists are intended to limit China’s ability to develop high -performance computer capacities, quantum technologies and advanced AI and hinder Peking’s development of his hypersonic weapon program.

“We won’t allow opponents to exploit American technology to strengthen their own military and threaten American lives,” said trade secretary Howard Lutnick.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in Washington said on Tuesday that it “is firmly against these actions taken by the United States and requires it to immediately stop using military -related issues as pretext to politicize, instrumentalize and arms trade and technical issues.”

It should be noted that the United States is adding companies to the Trade Department’s Unity List for National Security or Foreign Policy Concerns, which then cannot sell goods to those listed without applying for and getting licenses that are likely to be denied.

Trade employee Jeffrey Kessler said the administration is aiming to prevent “US technologies and goods being abused for high performance computing, hypersonic missiles, military air training and UAVs [drones] It threatens our national security. “
