A car accident in Malakand has resulted in deaths for five family members after their vehicle twisted away from the road and threw themselves into a channel.

The incident took place in Duragai Tehsil, near Khatkoshah Afghan refugee camp, in the midst of heavy rain.

Emergency helpers, including Malakand charges and local rescue teams, immediately arrived on stage to regain victims from the water.

The deceased includes two women, two young girls and their driver. Their bodies have since been transported to a local hospital for identification and necessary procedures.

Muhammad Asim Khan, a spokesman for Rescue 1122, stated that the accident happened because the vehicle lost control due to smooth road conditions created by the heavy rain.

Local police confirmed that an investigation has been launched on the circumstances of the accident that have shocked society.

Eyewitnesses reported that the heavy rainfall helped the vehicle to lose control before it fell into the canal.

Previously, heavy rain and thunderstorms swept through Peshawar and the surrounding areas early Wednesday, flooding streets and disturbing daily life.

The bulge that began around 1 p.m. 06:30, lasted for an hour, leaving roads immersed in water.

Dark clouds continue to dominate the city’s skyline with light drip and strong wind reported Tuesday as well. The wet conditions extend beyond Peshawar, with Dir and Chitral, experiencing rain in the last two days.

In chitral, snowfall resumes overnight, adding a fresh white layer to the mountainous landscape.
