Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) have strongly condemned the refusal to honor a court decision that gives a meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Adiala Prison, and called the law an obvious respect for the judiciary.
Shibli Faraz, opposition leader in the Senate, condemned the violation of judicial orders during a media briefing outside the prison Thursday.
“Today, there has been an obvious respect for court decisions,” he said. “This is not our respect, but an insult to the judges and the judiciary. It is the responsibility of the judges, not ours, to protect the integrity and dignity of the judiciary.”
Faraz’s remarks followed the rejection of prison officials to allow the planned meeting despite a court decision, which he described as a breach of the legal protocol.
“The lack of implementing the court’s decision does not stain our dignity, but rather undermines the judiciary and its integrity,” he added.
In addition, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, accused the authorities to disregard the Constitution and the law. “As usual, the law and the constitution have been violated,” he said.
Referring to paragraph 1. 7 In the Court’s decision, Ayub emphasized that the superintendent of the Adiala prison had assured the court that the meeting would take place.
“We waited outside for four hours and repeatedly informed the prison authorities, but as usual prevented the intelligence officer responsible for the area, the meeting. We condemn this action.”
Ayub also criticized the role of intelligence officers and questioned their priorities. “Their job should be to catch terrorists and not prevent us from meeting Imran Khan. It is an intelligence error to be resolved,” he said, adding that security staff in Balochistan were unable to perform their duties effectively due to intelligence errors.
Further criticism came from SaHibzada Hamid Raza, leader of Sunni Intehad Council, who expressed dismay over the behavior of prison officials and their respect for the larger bench’s decision.
“We will not let this case go unnoticed. The court’s decision was ignored, and it shows that prison administration and powerful officials are above the law,” he said.
Niazullah Niyazi, spokesman for PTI founder Imran Khan, also expressed strong condemnation. “Today, the refusal to allow a meeting has raised a serious question about the credibility of the judiciary,” said Niyazi. “We will file a contempt petition in response to this rejection. Imran Khan’s existence is crucial to this country and the state.”
