Opening Day: Yankees’ Austin Wells makes the MLB story with Leadoff Home Driving

New York Yankees Catcher Austin Wells etched into the history books in the team’s opening day match against Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday at Yankee Stadium.

Wells, 25, had already made history of the day when he became the first catcher to ever beat the leader in a regular season in Yanke’s history.

During his first bat, Wells made further history. The young catcher became the first catcher with a leading home drive on opening day in the MLB story, according to ESPN.

Wells rebound after he started the year slowly, but ended up with an average of .229 and 13 home runs to join a strong defense behind the record in 2024.
