New York Yankees Catcher Austin Wells etched into the history books in the team’s opening day match against Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday at Yankee Stadium.
Wells, 25, had already made history of the day when he became the first catcher to ever beat the leader in a regular season in Yanke’s history.
During his first bat, Wells made further history. The young catcher became the first catcher with a leading home drive on opening day in the MLB story, according to ESPN.

Wells was up in the count 2-0 against breweries that started pitcher Freddy Peralta. In the meetings of the meetings, Wells took a rip on a high 2-0 fastball, and he deposited it in the first row of the right field stands in Yankee Stadium.
Wells’ Solo Home Run gave Yankees an instant 1-0 lead at the bottom of the first place.
Last season, Wells finished in third place in the American rookie of the year Rookie of the Year Race, behind Baltimore Orioles’ Outfielder Colton Cowser and his teammate’s starting pot Luis Gil had won the award.

Wells rebound after he started the year slowly, but ended up with an average of .229 and 13 home runs to join a strong defense behind the record in 2024.
With the loss of Juan Soto to the New York Mets in free agency and appointed hits Giancarlo Stanton, starting the season on the wounded list, Yankees is dependent on Wells being an important contributor.

If his first bat is any indication of how his season will go, Yanke will be satisfied with Wells’ season.
At this point, Yankees was up 2-1, which went down to the bottom of the third round against the breweries.
