Siddiqui withdraws resignation as NIRC chef

Islamabad High Court (IHC) Former Judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has withdrawn his resignation as chairman of the National Industrial Relations Commissions (NIRC).

Justice (RETD) Siddiqui made this decision after a meeting with the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis Secretary Dr. Arshad Mahmood. During the meeting, Dr. Mahmood Siddiqui’s efforts to speed up in pending workers’ cases and secure Swift Justice in the last three months.

Recognizing NIRC’s key role in solving workers ‘questions, the secretary called on the former IHC judge to continue to serve in the position of workers’ welfare. Justice (RETD) Siddiqui later accepted to withdraw his resignation and continue as NIRC chairman for improving workers.

Previously, he had submitted a message of one month for his resignation. The federal cabinet had appointed the former IHC judge as the NIRC chairman for a three-year period in December 2024.

Justice (Retd) Shuakat Aziz Siddiqui was fired in October 2018 from his position when IHC’s senior Puisne referees considering a presidential reference that was filed against him by PTI led federal governments.

The judge moved the Supreme Court to the Supreme Court Council’s decision. However, the Apex Court took on its case only after his super -announcement, and in March 2024 the order for his dismissal and revived his status as a previous IHC judge.
