- Sandic Extreme Portable SSD to PlayStation 5 has been revealed
- It’s a sturdy portable PS5 SSD, with water and drop protection
- It is available now in 1 TB and 2TB capabilities
The memory company SanDisk has just announced a new external SSD to PlayStation 5, and it may be one of the coolest officially licensed model yet.
Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD to PlayStation 5 weighs only 0.15 kg / 69.40 g and is super sturdy with an IP65 assessment. This means that it is impervious to dust and can even withstand low pressure rays of water, so you don’t have to worry about the effects of a slight spray of rain if you decide to take it on the go.
In addition, it is safe from drops of up to three meters, which means that you can theoretically chuck it out of a ground floor window without any bad effects – though as a general rule of thumb, try to avoid doing so with any storage medium to keep the risk of damage to a minimum. Obviously.
Still I am fascinated and will definitely set the drive through its pace towards the end of my testing process when I get my hands on one for review.
It boasts reading speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s, which allows for quick transfer of games between the drive and the console. Just remember that as an external storage device you can’t play PS5 games directly from it.
The drive is now available in a colorway, a suitable PlayStation white and blue and two different capabilities. The 1TB model costs $ 129.99 / £ 101.99, while the 2TB version is $ 199.99 / £ 150.99.
It is definitely an attractive suggestion and the official branding plus added durability could mean it has a shot of becoming one of the best PS5 texts hard drives on the market.
