- Windows 11 Enterprise Version 24H2 adds support to Hotpatching

Microsoft has confirmed that Hotpatch updates are now available for compatible business units running Windows 11 Enterprise Version 24H2, which is good news for organizations that want to reduce downtime.
Hotpatch updates make it possible to install us -security updates in the background without having to restart the device, reducing user disorders without sacrificing security.
To be eligible for Hotpatches, companies must run an X64 (AMD64 or Intel) CPU and have an active Microsoft subscription (Enterprise E3/E5/F3, Education A3/A5 or Windows 365 Enterprise).
Windows 11 Hotpatching comes to Business Units
In a blog post, Microsoft’s David Callaghan states that Hotpatch âupdates immediately take effect when providing rapid protection against vulnerabilities.”
Callaghan also noted that Hotpatched devices receive the same degree of protection as devices that are updated more conventionally about the company’s traditional patch on Tuesday releases, but because they do not require the PC to reboot, workers will experience fewer interruptions.
Companies will need to create a hot patch-enabled quality update policy via Microsoft Intune, and avid-eyed IT administrators will notice various KB numbers and OS versions for devices enrolled in hotpit updates.
Four times a year in January, April, July and October, units still need to restart when installing security updates, but the subsequent two months of each quarter do not require a device start.
With regard to eligibility, Callaghan also noticed Arm64 devices are in public preview, which eventually indicates additional support.

Generally available from April 2, 2025, Microsoft only confirmed that ARM64 devices would get support “at a later time.”
