It is rare for an animated project to lead our weekly round of the best new movies and TV shows on the world’s leading streaming services.
However, there is a first time for everything – and fortunately for Netflix’s anime adaptation of the popular Devil can cry The video lady series, that time is now.
Aren’t you interested in that project? Not fret because there are six other amazing and/or long-standing movies and TV series to wrap your eyeballs around this weekend (April 4 to April 6). Without all, here is what we recommend that you stream over the next few days. – Tom Power, Senior Entertainment Reporter
Devil May Cry (Netflix)
Look at
I easily admit to not watching many of Netflix’s animated TV adaptation of beloved video game franchises (don’t worry, ArcaneYou will always be in my heart).
Like a big fan of Capcoms – and recently Ninja Theory’s – Devil can cry (DMC) Games, however, you can bet that I was sitting on day one to see Demon Hunter Dante Slice and shoot through the worst that the underworld could throw itself.
Helped by Adil Shankar, ie the brain behind other critically acclaimed but under-worthy anime-inspired Netflix adaptations including CastlevaniaThe Streamer’s DMC TV Reimagining has all the tools needed to enter our best Netflix Shows Hall of Fame. Make sure you have ebony, ivory and the rebellion to your hand while you see it, all together. – TP
A real pain (Disney+)

Look at
I still haven’t seen Jesse Eisenberg’s instructor debut, When you finish saving the world, But that doesn’t mean I’m not excited to see this, especially with Kieran Culkin, who wins this year’s best supportive actor Oscar.
A true pain Also has two BAFTAs under its belt and Techradar’s very own stamp of approval as one of the best films of 2024. So if you’re still unsure about streaming it on Disney+ this weekend – the movie made its streaming debut state page on Hulu in January – then let these doubts fade away.
This heartwarming friend-comedy drama follows Eisenberg and Culkin, who play two cousins on a trip to Poland to honor their grandmother, who ends up taking them on a completely different journey. It is arguably one of the best Disney+ movies you watch. – Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor
The Bondsman (Prime Video)

Look at
Kevin Bacon as a Demon Bounty Hunter in a new Gothic series with an original blues music soundtrack? You read it right.
Bondman Maybe not been on your prime video radar, but with an 85% RT -critical score (at the time of writing), it should be. Based on that alone, this Amazon TV-Original will make the clip to be one of the best Prime Video-Shows-and It is easy to see why when you hear it is compared to similar R-classified projects like Constantine and Ash vs. The Evil Dead.
In a speech with Techradar, serial producer Erik Oleson revealed that the goal was to “create a scream loudly, laugh loudly mashup of family drama with Appalachian Lore with demon hunting and music”. Bacon that sticks chainsaw through the forehead of the demons is just for a good goal! – SEAM
Y2K (MAX)

Look at
Y2K Is the latest A24 movie that debuts at Max, but unfortunately it bombed it critically and is among the study’s worst-rated film.
With 42% on rotten tomatoes, Y2K Do not appear on our best max movie list. But if you are eager to put together your own mind about it, here is what it is about: a group of High School Juniors crashes a New Year’s Eve, but typical young adult dramas are the least of their worries when machines rise to humanity.
Inspired by the Real Life-Men-Men-Upon-Intactic Happening Y2K problem (Millennials, you know what I’m talking about!), Make this movie a technology clitch to something darker, with some humor scattered throughout it may not be the best A24 movie out there, but it’s definitely unique! – Lucy Buglass, Senior Entertainment Writer
Pulse (Netflix)

Look at
With medical drama Pitt It serves rave reviews from both critics and general audience after its season 1 release at Max in January, it is Netflix’s turn to * Ahem * surgically improved its own back catalog of hospital-based projects.
Pulsewhich was renewed in another season long before its debut excursion landed on streaming titan Is. In fact, with its romantic leash stories, melodrama plenty and dramatization of how medical facilities work, it’s easy to see why such comparisons have been made.
Will it put our hearts discharge and land somewhere on our best Netflix series list? Time will show. – TP
DYING FOR SEX (Disney+/Hulu)

Look at
I love a good podcast, and Theis New Hulu and Disney+ Series are based on a very heartfelt one. Dy for sex is based on Nikki Boyer, who puts together with her best friend Molly Kochan to become honest about her experiences after she was diagnosed with phase four breast cancer.
The show dramatizes Kochan’s life with Michelle Williams in the leading role of a woman who ends her 15-year marriage of exploring herself and her sexuality before her death. The real life Kochan died in 2019, and her heritage lives on through this series where Boyer served as a performer.
Across eight episodes, we follow Kochan’s life and experiences with lots of humor balanced with the drama. It is also quite the roller coaster and very binge-worthy. One to keep an eye on our best hulu shows and best Disney+ shows lists. – Lb
Away Girls: Long Island Serial Killer (Netflix)

Look at
Not at all affiliated with the David Fincher movie, this new TRUE-crime documentary series explores Hunt for Rex Heuermann, alias ‘The Long Island Serial Killer’.
Told from the perspective of his victims, their loved ones and the police, Away Girls reveals how the local New York architect managed to hide in ordinary vision and expose a web of corruption, but that is not the end of the story. Away Girls Focuses on a Live case, which means there is a very real chance that more information can come out about Heuermann and his crimes.
In a speech with Tudum, director Liz Garbus said, “After we were completed and turned into our cuts to Netflix, another victim was added to [Heuermann’s] Docked. Will there be more between now and the time we are emitting? It’s possible. Will there be more between now and the time we go to trial if they go to trial? It’s likely. ”– Lb
