SCBA -President CJ Discusses Balochistan

Islamabad:

Significant compliance with fundamental rights A cornerstone of any democratic society, Chief Justice of Pakistan has emphasized that fundamental rights must be maintained everywhere.

CJP expressed these views during a meeting with the Supreme Court’s Law Society President Mian Muhammad Rauf Ata.

According to a SCBA press message, the BAR chief CJP assessed the ongoing situation in Balochistan, where fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution have effectively ceased to exist. This situation has further aggravated the law and order situation in the province, which has led to widespread turmoil, an increase in rebel activities and road closures that have directly affected the daily life of ordinary citizens.

The SCBA president also shared with the CJP details of advisory meetings aimed at building a broadly based national consensus on Balochistan’s question. He noted that most of the political elite generally agrees that the solution of these issues lies in a democratic approach.
