- Lexar has revealed the world’s first 1TB micro sd express card
- It’s available right now and looks like it would be perfect for Nintendo Switch 2
- 512 GB and 256 GB settings are also available
Storage giant Lexar has revealed the world’s first 1TB Micro SD Express card, and it looks like it could be a must-have accessory for Nintendo Switch 2.
Just in case you missed the note, Nintendo has confirmed that Nintendo Switch 2 will be compatible with Micro SD Express card format rather than regular Micro SD cards.
This means that although all the best SD card -switch does not work with Nintendo Switch 2, the upcoming console will contain dramatically faster expandable storage. This will help allow for significantly more ambitious games and massively improved load times on the platform.
Since it is quite a new format, after launching just a few months ago, there are not so many opportunities on the market right now. Still pushing this newly released model from the Lexar envelope when it comes to storage capacity and handheld game performance.
Lexar Play Pro Micro SD Express Card is designed with Nintendo Switch 2 in mind.
Like other Micro SD Express cards, it is also backward compatible with UHS-I and USH-II devices (like the original Nintendo Switch), but works at significantly lower speeds.
It is available in three capabilities, 256 GB, 512 GB and Showstopping 1TB. These cost $ 49.99, $ 99.99 and $ 199.99 respectively.
The 1TB model is definitely my pickup of the flock, and although almost $ 200 seems like a great deal to use on any storage device, it is a reasonable step up from $ 80-100 price range for existing 512 GB models from Lexar and other larger manufacturers.
You should also keep in mind that 1TB is a terrible mass of storage and should see you through large parts of Nintendo Switch 2’s life, whose current information about game file sizes is something to pass by. We know from early eshop lists that first-party games like Mario Kart World Come in at just under 25 GB. Even a massive game like Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition Can fit a 64 GB game cartridge.
All three models are covered with Lexar’s limited life guarantee, which means you are covered if quality problems occur during use. Even in regions where the limited life guarantee does not apply, you are still covered for 10 full years, which is excellent.
The best part? It is available right now via Amazon, so you can pick up one right next to your Nintendo Switch 2 forbite and get all your stock needs met for years to come on the first day.
