- Here’s another leaked look at iPhone 17 Air
- It could be markedly thinner than the iPhone 17 Pro Max
- Four iPhones are expected in September
If you count down the days, you know we are about 150 days away from the launch of the iPhone 17 series, and a freshly leaked picture of two dummy devices gives us an idea of the difference in thickness between two of these phones.
Dummy devices are non-working mock-ups of handsets based on schedules taken from the supply chain, and the well-known tipster @Mayinbuofficial has posted a picture of two of them: iPhone 17 Air next to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
If you have followed the rumors so far, you know that the iPhone 17 Air is set to replace the iPhone 16 Plus in Apple’s flagship lineup. It is said to measure only 5.84 mm at the front of the back if the leaks we have seen are accurate.
And you can really see that thinness of the show here. If the iPhone 17 Pro Max is the same thickness as the iPhone 16 Pro Max, it measures 8.3 mm at the front of the back, making Pro Max approx. 42% thicker than the air.
Here’s what’s coming

These dummy devices don’t really tell us too much more about what’s coming, but it’s an interesting visual comparison. In fact, we’ve already seen a lot of Dummy Development of Development showing the designs in the 2025 iPhone series.
Alongside the two phones shown in this image, we are also very likely to get a standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro. Pro and Pro Max are apparently in line for a RAM Bump as well as other upgrades.
In a response to the original Dummy Unit Image Post, industry analyst Ross Young repeated his prediction that the iPhone 17 Air comes with a 6.55-inch screen along with the standard iPhone features like Magsafe.
If Apple sticks to its usual schedule, all these phones should appear sometime in September. Before that we have the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, where we probably hear more about iOS 19.
