Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan and former First Lady, has approached Islamabad High Court (IHC), which is looking for better facilities in Adiala Prison, where she is currently accumulating a seven-year verdict in the case of 190 million pounds.
Through his lawyers, Bushra Bibi filed a petition who requested the court to order the prison authorities to provide improved facilities under the Pakistan Prison rules, 1978.
In her plea, the former first lady declared that she had lived in the Prime Minister’s house during her husband’s tenure, and because of her previous lifestyle and public status had a legal right to certain comforts and facilities in prison.
The petition claimed that despite having submitted a formal request to the Adiala prison superintendent, no action was taken.
It also claimed that her husband, Imran Khan, was also declared entitled to improved prison conditions while detaining in the same facility. She asked the court to instruct the authorities to fulfill their legal responsibility in a similar way.
Bushra Bibi has appointed the federal government, the superintendent of Adiala Prison and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad as respondents in the case.
What is the case of 190 million pounds?
The case claims that Imran Khan and others involved adjusted RS50 billion – equivalent to £ 190 million at that time – transferred by the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistani government.
As Prime Minister, Khan obtained cabinet approval for this solution on December 3, 2019 without revealing the confidential details of the deal. The event had determined that the funds would be submitted to the Supreme Court.
According to Nab officials, Khan and his wife received land worth billions of rupees intended for the construction of an educational institute.
Nab filed the referral on December 1, 2023 against eight accused persons, including Imran and his wife.
