Bruce Miller, the mind behind The Handmaid’s Talehave said that Gilead’s story is far from past and in The willsViewers will step into a world that feels like the opposite.
For the unwarterized, the next subsequent series, The willsis based on the novel by Margaret Atwood, which takes place several years after the last season of The Handmaid’s Tale.
The story follows three women: Aunt Lydia (played by Anne Dowd), Agnes and Daisy, when their lives are connected when they learn about Gilead’s secrets and the fight against its rule.
The television writer teased, “It’s all about growing up Gilead. It feels like exactly the opposite world. These are … the most precious girls in Gilead. And yet you start to realize they are walking a plank, just like the hand girls. Hannah has to do with June inside her [and] Suddenly, she begins to feel mighty, mighty, mighty rebellious. “
Especially in The Handmaid’s TaleGilead calls June and Luke’s daughter Hannah named Agnes, who in Season 6 works hard to become a wife.
There are still important parts of the story that need to happen before the characters come to the place they are in The wills.
Aunt Lydia is still trying to follow the rules while also trying to protect the hand girls from injury but in The willsWill she become an important part of the rebellion.
By reflecting on this, Miller said, “It’s very different for her this season because she has that she is trying to expand her power. She tries to work her power elsewhere, places that are not only with the hand girls but the wider world.”
“Lydia tries to do a very difficult job well, and I think she is aware of time that these girls are valuable on her own and try to kind of find out a way to do her job that she has said ‘I want to do,’ and also recognizes the humanity of these girls, which she cannot completely ignore,” he added.
Before it ends it is relevant to mention that The wills may release at the end of 2025 or 2025; The first three episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 is available at Hulu.
