Masters 2025: Amateur golf player admits to urinate in RAE’s Creek

Josele Ballester lives the dream of every golfer, but not without any controversy.

Winning the American amateur in 2024 got the 21-year-old from Spain playing at Augusta National this year at Masters.

In his first round of the famous course, however, he raised his eyebrows by making a questionable decision in an emergency.

Ballests apparently admitted that he urined in Rae’s Creek at Amen Corner.

The spanish said he “completely forgot that we had these toilets to the left of the (13th) tee box” and after playing partner Justin Thomas “had a problem on the green,” he said he took advantage of.

“I’m like ‘I really need to pee.’ Didn’t really know where to go, and when JT had a problem on the green, I’m like, ‘I just want to sneak here in the river, and probably people wouldn’t see me much,’ and then they clapped after me.

Ballests didn’t seem too worried that he would get any blowback from Augusta National.

“They saw me. It wasn’t embarrassing at all. If I had to do it again, I would do it again,” he said.

Ballbreds appeared for the course in a typical young golfer attire. Arizona State golf player wore a hat that said “Sun Devils” upside down, a new fashion for Gen-Z. But it has not exactly been an exciting week for the Sun Devils Golf Program.

Men’s golf coach Matt Thurmond was removed from the course during an exercise session on Tuesday to wear shorts on the field after he went to say hello to former ASU player Kevin Yu, who is debuting this year.

While patrons are free to wear shorts, full -length pants are required over the ropes where players and coaches are. Phones are not even allowed on the field.

Ballester was paired with Thomas and reigning champion Scottie Scheffler, who is pretty funny company to be in. Last year, amateur Neal Shipley spent his final round with five-time winner Tiger Woods.
