President Asif Ali Zardari shows signs of improvement, according to his doctor Dr. Asim Hussain, local media reported Friday. The president, who tested positively for Covid-19 on April 2, is currently being treated at a private hospital in Karachi.

Hussain confirmed that a recent quick test for Covid-19 returned negatively, but President Zardari continues to be monitored by specialists in infectious diseases. “He undergoes physical therapy and is likely to remain hospitalized for a few more days,” the doctor said.

Medical experts from the hospital’s infectious disease department examine the president three times a day, he said, adding, doctors have limited all visits as a precautionary measure.

The president’s family receives regular health updates, and the recent blood test reports have shown promising results, Dr. Asim.

Zardari was originally in Nawabshah, but was later moved to Karachi for better medical treatment – a movement that his doctor described as timely and beneficial. The president remains under close observation where health officials continue to monitor his condition as part of a cautious recovery process.
