The United States fence has recognized an upcoming federal investigation of an incident that took place at one of its events where a woman’s fence was punished for refusing to meet a transgender competitor.

The study, which will be conducted by the newly formed title IX Investigation Team in connection with the US Education Department and the Ministry of Justice, was announced on Friday by Education Secretary Linda McMahon.

The incident that took place at the Cherry Blossom Open in Maryland on March 30, saw female fence Stephanie Turner take a knee in protest against Trans -Competition Redmond Sullivan. Turner was then disqualified from the event and escorted out of the room.

USA fence made a statement to Pakinomist Digital that said it will cooperate with the investigation.

“The US Fence will respond and cooperate with any investigation as required in the law,” the statement reads.

The incident involving Turner quickly drew national attention after a video of her who took a knee to protest in Sullivan became viral. Recordings ignited widespread awareness and setbacks against the US hencing policy of gender eligibility.

Turner told Pakinomist Digital that she came to the decision to take her knee the night before the event when she checked the competition pools and saw that she would compete against Sullivan.

“I saw that I was going to be in a pool with Redmond, and from there I said, ‘Ok, let’s do it. I’m taking my knee,’ said Turner.” I knew what I was doing because USA fence hadn’t listened to women’s objections about [its gender eligibility policy]”

The United States fence first adopted its current trans-inclusion policy in 2023. It gives transnry athletes to compete in the women’s category at both junior and senior levels after completing a calendar year with testosterone oppression treatment. Now, after sitting against female fencing seeking protection against trans -cluttering, USA hencing is facing potential federal sanctions.

This title IX study will be one of the first missions for the newly created title IX Investigation Team, which was officially formed last week. The initiative was announced last Friday with the mission of “protecting female athletes from the harmful effects of gender ideology in school programs and activities.”
