Golfinfluener Paige Spiranac had kind words about Nick Dunlap’s performance in the second round of Masters Friday after he had a pretty terrible first time at Augusta National.
Dunlap became the first Masters competitor for a decade and the youngest in the history of the tournament to shoot 90 on the course. He fell five shots over his last three holes to end nightmares Thursday and did not talk to journalists afterwards.

He could have easily withdrawn from the tournament as he fell far away to make the clip. However, Dunlap showed its determination and jumped back.
The 21-year-old mapped a 71 in the second round on the Friday of the best scores for everyone who entered the tee box. Unfortunately, the carved line was +2 and he was +17 for the tournament.
“Massive props for Dunlap to shoot during Pari today after his first round 90,” wrote Spiranac on X. “He could easily have WD, but he stuck it out and came back with a fantastic round! We’ve all been there. Golf can eat you alive, but your next big round is always just around the corner.”

After Thursday’s disastrous first round, the golf world felt for Dunlap.
I’ve been playing with him a couple of times this year and what a great player, what a great guy, “said Robert Macinty.” He fought out there today, (but) his attitude was solid. He didn’t get in the way. He did not dismiss anything that would affect his two other gaming partners because we have a job to do.
“I feel for him today, but he’s coming back.”
Dunlap was far from the only one who missed the clip. He talked about his two rounds afterwards.

“I had more of a knot in my stomach today than I have ever started a round of golf,” he said via ESPN. “I didn’t have a particularly good mage feeling about what stepped up today. Proud of myself to send something under par.”
