Shaking was marked across parts of northern Pakistan on Sunday afternoon as an earthquake at a force of 4.1 hit with his episent in the Hindu Kush region of neighboring Afghanistan, Pakistan Meteorological Department said.
The earthquake happened at. 14.50 local time and was recorded at a depth of 60 kilometers below ground surface.
Although the shaking caused short panic in several areas, there were no immediate reports of damage or material damage. Residents of Islamabad and the surrounding regions rushed out of buildings and recited beans as a caution.
Authorities confirmed that the episent was located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush -Bjerg chain, a seismic active region known for triggering low to moderate intensity in Pakistan.
Disaster Service Agencies said they are monitoring the situation, but no emergency was considered at this time.
Yesterday, an earthquake of 5.5 sizes hit parts of Pakistan with trembling that felt in Islamabad, Rawal Pindi and several districts over Punjab and Khyber-Pakhwa Provinces, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The National Seismic Monitoring Center reported that the episent was located approx. 60 kilometers northwest of Rawalpindi, at a depth of 12 kilometers.
The shakes were recorded at. 12:31 local time.
The provincial disaster control authority (PDMA) Punjab confirmed that the earthquake was also marked in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujrat and other areas of the province.
