Professor Khurshid Ahmad, former Deputy Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and a famous Islamic economist, died in Leicester, Britain, at the age of 93, the party’s spokesman confirmed on Sunday.
A prominent learned and former senator, Ahmad was a close employee of JI -founder Syed Abul A’la Maududi. Over decades he wrote several books and was widely respected for his contributions to the Islamic economy and socio-political thought.
“Professor Khurshid Ahmad was one of the groundbreaking thinkers of the Islamic economy and an institution in itself,” the party said in a statement.
