Failed Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has refused to give any authority to hold conversations with the establishment, the party’s president Gohar Ali Khan said on Tuesday.

His statement comes days after PTI leader Azam Swatis claimed he had received nodded from Khan to contact the establishment to settle questions to bring political stability to the country.

Last week, Swati claimed while talking to a private news channel that he would meet ‘someone’, after which he would be able to say what the future course of action would be.

He also suggested with the involvement of former President Dr. ARIF ALVI and some others in the negotiation process and added that he would “meet someone next Wednesday” and wanted Alvi and some other friends to join him.

In a speech with journalists outside Rawalpindis Adiala prison to meet Khan, Gohar said the party’s founder has given him “six statements” today.

“PTI founder said he has not pressed anyone to hit an appointment,” said Gohar, adding that Khan also declared that his party would reveal his tale of the law of mining and minerals after hearing political leaders.

Gohar added that he would discuss the bill for mining and minerals with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

A recently submitted bill in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly of the ruling PTI to regulate investments in the province’s mining and minerals has given rise to a sharp debate that draws criticism from opposition parties, allies and even votes within PTI.

Opponents claim that the proposed law threatens to undermine the province’s autonomy and hand over greater control over KP’s natural resources to the federal government.

However, the KP government maintains the legislation has been misunderstood and insists that it is designed to limit illegal mining and attract investments.

The bill was introduced in the provincial parliament at a time when the federal government was eagerly promoting the country’s mineral reserves to attract foreign investment.

Gohar called on the PTI management to refrain from giving statements about the matter until Gandapur and the political leadership meet with Khan.

In addition, the PTI founder expressed “concerns” about questions related to Afghan refugees and especially Afghanistan.

The PTI founder, who points to dissatisfaction among PTI leaders, issued strict directives to the party leaders not to give statements against each other anymore.

The imprisoned ex-premiere also gave its Directives on Grand Opposition Alliance and said PTI should work on a short agenda to ally with the opposition parties.

“PTI -founder said all the opposition parties will have to gather [on a single platform for [the protection of] Democracy, “Gohar said.

Today’s meeting between Khan and PTI leaders was again hit by controversy when Gohar criticized the party that gave permission for “only two lawyers” for the meeting on their list; However, “five lawyers met the PTI founder today”.

It is noteworthy to mention here that the PTI leaders who met Khan today in the Adiala prison includes Gohar, Barrister Salman Safdar, Faisal Chaudhry, Ali Imran and Rai Salman.

The PTI legislator also slammed the prison authorities to prevent Khan’s family members from meeting him in prison. “We condemn you for not having allowed Khan’s sisters to meet him.”

He remembered Islamabad High Court’s clear instructions to the prison authorities to allow meetings with Khan twice a week.

‘Doors to negotiations not closed’

PTI-spokesman Sheikh Waqas Akram clarified that ex-PM Khan has never closed the doors to negotiations and added that conversations could only be held in national interests covering the core problems, including supremacy of law and constitution.

He reiterated that the PTI founder believed in getting justice from the courts. Akram added that the PTI founder decided to seek release from courts but was not about to strike any appointment.

The party’s spokesman elaborated that Khan was instructing an orientation from CM Gandapur about the bill for mines and minerals which would be adopted [from the KP Assembly] After his approval.

The top leader also ordered PTI leaders to refrain from giving conflicting statements regarding the said legislation. In addition, the PTI founder also asked the KP assembly to introduce a decision for Afghan refugees, Akram concluded.
