Jordan Spieth was not only just to let it fly on the golf course at Augusta National this weekend, but also on the podium.
Spieth, 31, said he treated mud balls during his second and third rounds, claiming the organizers of the masters do not like the mud balls discussing publicly.
“My iron game killed me for the past two days, and to be brutally honest with you, it was primarily mud balls,” Spieth said via the New York Post after his round Saturday.

“It’s just so frustrating because you can’t talk about them here. Don’t talk about them.”
“Mud balls can significantly affect this tournament, especially when you get them a lot at 11 and 13. They’re just dagger on these two holes.”
Spieth had different results on the 11th and 13th holes. Spieth Fuglede the 11th hole in the first round and then shot pairs on the first part of the Amen Corner over the next three rounds.
On the 13th hole licked out of the hole in the first and second rounds, but birded the hole in the third and fourth rounds.

Augusta National is already enough of a difficult course to play with a good lie. Add the wrinkle to a mud ball and iron shoots on the famous course have another added degree of difficulty.
“There’s like smaller (mud balls) than usual, but I still had them today on these holes. I had them (Friday) on these holes,” Spieth said. “It’s something to be aware of with certainty of leadership groups because you just have to play so far away from trouble or put up when you normally want to go after it, just random things because it will affect it markedly. And if you’re on the wrong side of the hole, you’re either in the water or you can hardly make a couple depending on what hole it is.”
“Look, it’s turned into the grain. The ball is digging in on each shot. Many times you have it at 75% of your drives.”
Pakinomist Digital reached out to Augusta National for comment, but did not get an immediate answer.

The 2015 Masters Champion started his 12th career on this year’s Masters and ended in a draw for 14th place when he was 3 under par for the tournament.
Spieth hardly made the cut on Friday when he was 2-over-pair after two rounds and just below the cut, but he turned it around by walking 5-under this weekend.
