The classic of the British vacuum cleaner market, Henry Canister Vacuum, has two new big brothers. And ‘Big’ is the operational word here because Henry Home XL and XL Xtra cleanse animals, each offering a massive 15L dust capacity (for context, a standard Henry has 6L, and most Stick -Vakuums last below 1L).
If you want something suffocated and easy this will not be the best vacuum cleaner for you. The Henry XL models are built for major cleanups and heavy tasks (such as DIY waste) that would see a regular stick vacuum race screaming in terror.
These are actually not the only supersized Henrys on the market, but where the new additions really stand out are with their detailed tools. Henry Home XL has a massive range, designed to tackle any cleaning task. There is a floor head, especially for rug (AiroBrush), one for any kind of hard floor and a combination of flooring tool that can make a variety of floor types. There is also a mini flooring head for padding and stairs (AiroBrush 140).
In addition to the floor head, you get a long, bent slot tool for narrow holes as down to the back of radiators, a multi -angular tool that can bend to tackle awkward areas such as shelves and bannists, and a generous 1.5 m extension hose for stains so you don’t have to drag the container part up the stairs or into the back of the car. (XL Extra has a wide range of tools but is missing the last two.)
Larger, better, sack?
These vacuums are not for everyone, but they certainly have an important place in the wider market. While today’s best wireless stick vakuum delivers impressive maneuverability and freedom, they have their disadvantages. Loveless vacuum cleaner tends to be less robust and has a much shorter life than wiring vacuum cleaner.
Having a dust bag can also seem old -fashioned, but there are also great benefits there. In a battle over bagged vs bagless vacuum, the former tends to be better at major cleaning tasks thanks to greater dust capacity (certainly the case with the new Henrys). They are also the superior choice for allergy suffers because it is far more difficult for the dust to escape back into the air during emptying.
Bagged vacuum can also sometimes handle fine garbage such as fireplace ash or plaster dust, while with bagless vacuum it can easily enter the engine and make it all go kaput. Henry Home XL and XL Xtra are both specifically built to handle DIY waste.
Henry Home XL costs £ 199.99 and is available to buy exclusively from Henry. XL Xtra costs £ 189.99 and can also be purchased directly from Henry, but it is not an exclusive, so presumably it will show up for some third -party dealers soon.
