Phillies’ Bryce Harper draws gender revealed with custom bats

Pink and blue bats are usually reserved for mother and father’s day in the big leagues, but on Monday marked an exception.

Philadelphia Phillie’s Outfielder Bryce Harper expects his fourth child later in the year and he would bring gender information to the field.

Then he ordered two bats, a pink and a blue, and asked his teammate, Shortstop Trea Turner, to break the big news.

“He asked me earlier today to help him with the gender information. I was confused first, but I think he would share that moment with us and I think it was pretty cool,” Turner said after the game.

But Turner wouldn’t get this chance and make it easy on Harper.

“I messed up with him in Dugout. I picked it up pink, swung it around a bit,” Turner said. “He thought he had a girl.”

But Harper came to the plate with a blue bat.

“He was pretty happy.”

“He was nice enough to ask me to do it, and I thought it was a nice moment for him and his family. Pretty cool, pretty special day,” Turner added.

Turner and Harper had also been Washington teammates, DC with nationals before Harper headed for Philly. Turner signed with nights on an 11-year-old, $ 300 million deal before the 2023 season after a short stint with Los Angeles Dodgers.

Harper wounded strikingly into the bat, and Phillies continued to lose, 10-4, to the red-hot San Francisco giants, so it wasn’t all fun in Citizens Bank Park on Monday.

But without a doubt, it was a day that Harper will not forget soon.
