Lahore:

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has emphasized the importance of preserving the dignity of the judiciary while calling on the legal community to move away from the prevailing culture of strikes and court boyscats.

During a meeting with representatives of various district and tehsil bar associations at Lahore High Court, CJ Aalia Neelum urged the legal fraternity to use more constructive approaches to tackle complaints.

She emphasized that strikes should not be the standard response as they interfere with litigation and affect many lawyers’ livelihoods, especially those who depend on daily court appearance.

“When courts remain closed, litigation and also the most vulnerable members of the legal profession suffer,” noted Chief Justice, highlighting the broader consequences of strike acts.

She repeated the need for a cooperative and respectful environment between the bench and the bar and noted that the dignity of the court is closely linked to the behavior and respect of the legal community. “A collaborative relationship is important to maintain the rule of law and maintain public confidence in the judiciary,” she said.

CJ Neelum addressed concerns with judicial officers and advised that any complaints be submitted in writing and assured that they would be treated transparently and through proper process. “Transparency and accountability are the cornerstones of our judiciary,” she said.

Chief Justice also shared updates on key infrastructure projects aimed at modernizing the justice system, including the upcoming construction of an advanced Lahore La.
